Regular maintenance and service is an important part of keeping your vehicle running right for years, and properly preparing for all seasonseven when you’re getting ready for winter. Scheduled oil changes, safety inspections and other minor, low cost repairs help your car perform better, prevent future problems, and can save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

How Long Will It Take To Repair My Car?

While there’s no easy formula to figure out how long it will take to get your car serviced, reputable auto repair shops will be able to give you an estimate on the average amount of time it should take them.

Minor collision repairs, such as small scratches or fender benders, could be completed in just a few days (depending on the season and severity). Minor body damage usually won’t require waiting on parts, paint, or other factors that could delay your car repairs.

For major collision repairs, it’s not uncommon for mechanics to find more extensive damage once they begin to work on your car. Ordering and waiting on new car parts will also add to the length of time for repairs. These estimates could range from a few weeks to a few months, based on the level of damage and the availability of parts.

Common Car Repair Issues

Experiencing engine or steering problems is a sure sign that your vehicle is in need of a mechanic. If left unchecked, these small annoyances can compound and lead to even more costly repairs, so it’s best to stay on top of your tune ups to avoid further issues.

If you’ve already had a wheel alignment done (usually after you swap out your tires for the appropriate season), and your car is pulling to one side while driving, there are a few culprits we can investigate.

Your tires might have inconsistent air pressure, which is luckily an easy fix of just adding more air. But sometimes tires are manufactured incorrectly, and they get tire conicity.

If it’s not the tires, your vehicle might have worn out parts in the suspension or steering, or your brakes might be wearing unevenly.

A malfunctioning electrical system is the most common cause for air conditioning problems in vehicles. You could also have low or leaking refrigerant, a corrupt condenser, a run down compressor, broken cooling fans, or a dirty air filter.

Some of these problems are easily fixed with a bit of know-how, and customers can always get great advice from one of our helpful mechanics. If your car needed more complex repairs, we’ll be happy to book you in for an appointment.

The first thing you should look for when your car’s engine is running loud is the muffler. A damaged muffler will certainly cause your car to run louder than usual, and could lead to poorer gas mileage and increased fumes.

More serious reasons for a loud engine are a leaking exhaust manifold (which is quite dangerous), worn engine bearings (which could cause your engine to seize up if left unchecked), low engine oil levels, or a failing torque converter.
